CPUs on the site can be sorted by application performance, gaming performance, and combined performance. You can also sort by price-to-application-performance, price-to-gaming-performance, and price-to-combined-performance. In this discussion, we’ll evaluate CPUs based on each of these metrics.

To find the best CPU based on application performance, we first sort them by the performance-to-price ratio.

When sorted this way, our top pick is the Ryzen 5 5500 — by far the best ultra-budget choice. For second place under $100, we have the Core i3-12100F, Core i3-13100F, Core i3-14100F, and finally the Core i3-13100.
