Additional Information About Calculations

All performance percentages are compared to top-performing components, where 100% represents the following:

  • Application Performance: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
  • Gaming Performance (CPU-Bound): AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D
  • Graphics Performance: NVIDIA RTX 5090
  • Memory Performance: 6000 MT/s CL26 DDR5 RAM

Total system performance is calculated by taking the average of the CPU and GPU performance scores and then reducing that average by the small effect of SSD performance.

System Application Performance is derived from the motherboard’s VRM performance in conjunction with the selected CPU and RAM. A weak VRM can cause damage and significantly reduce the performance of high-end CPUs because it fails to supply the necessary power. Conversely, a robust VRM may slightly enhance CPU performance. The effect of RAM specifications on CPU performance can vary: some applications may not be affected, while others may experience noticeable slowdowns with lower-spec RAM.

System Gaming Performance is determined using complex formulas that account for several factors, including:

  • The influence of the CPU on GPU performance, which varies significantly with resolution. At 4K resolution, the GPU is typically the limiting factor rather than the CPU.
  • Reduced impact of the CPU on gaming performance when the GPU's performance is lower.
  • Greater influence of RAM on GPU performance when the CPU's gaming performance is suboptimal.

All systems, except those using the 9800X3D CPU with the highest-performing RAM, experience a reduction in maximum GPU performance due to the selected CPU and RAM.

All values are calibrated using real-world review data.
